1,19 million women were counted in Paris

Figure of the month : 1,19 million women were counted in Paris
Exactly 1,190,024  women were counted in the capital at the last census in 2011. Parisian women therefore make up 53 % of its total population. This slight feminine over-representation is due to a large influx of young women who come to Paris to study (55 % of the female population is between 20 and 24) as well as to the longer life expectancy of women (who make up 65 % of the population of 75 and over).
The study carried out by Apur on the living standards of Parisian women makes it possible, via a series of indicators, to measure the continuing inequalities between men and women in the capital. These inequalities are particularly noticeable in the level of salaries and part time employment although in certain areas such as levels of education and work opportunities they tend to even out.
