68 new stations for the Grand Paris Express

Figure of the month - 68 new stations for the Grand Paris Express
68: this will be the number of new stations in the Grand Paris Express network by 2030. These stations will be divided between 4 new lines (Lines 15, 16, 17 and 18) and the extension to Line 14. The new stations will connect new neighbourhoods, reduce travelling time and increase accessibility between territories. The Grand Paris Express network supports urban projects by serving  “local urban policy” neighbourhoods, some of which may be situated at the heart of large projects and others whose regeneration could be speeded up.
The station neighbourhoods Observatory, put in place by Apur, the transport and development organisation, -Société du Grand Paris- and the Ile-de- France regional and interdepartmental department of infrastructure and development (DRIEA), constitutes a tool for understanding and close analysis, making it possible to profile the future station neighbourhoods at the centre of the conglomeration and assist in the process of transformation brought about  by the arrival of the Grand Paris Express in these territories.
Six topics are covered by the Observatory: densities, centralities, the urban and landscape environment, the demographic and social characteristics of the population living in the station neighbourhoods, mobility and public space and the dynamics of construction and projects.
So far, the following have been published:
  • the cross-analysis of Lines 14, 15 south, 15 west and 16
  • about 40 monographs on the station neighbourhoods situated along Lines 14, 15 south, 16 and some of the neighbourhoods along Line 15 west
By the end of 2015, the other stations along Line 15 west and Line 15 east will be added. The work will continue into the first quarter of 2016 with the analyses of Lines 17 and 18.
