80 hectares : this is the surface area of roof-top terraces which offer a huge greening potential  in Paris. The capital has, at the moment, 44 hectares of greened roofs, 1.4% of the city's green spaces, at a time when greening the city has been highlighted as one of the leverage solutions for adapting it to climatic changes.
The study of the potential of greening roof-top terraces in Paris carried out by Apur was aimed to equip the City of Paris with the necessary technical elements to develop the greening of roof-top terraces. Out of the 460 hectares of flat roofs which exist in the capital, 80 could easily be greened within a short span of time. The remaining 380 would need more  lengthy adaptation.
The diagnostic of existing flat roof-tops gives an assessment of the main technical limitations linked to setting up a system of greening on existing buildings. Based on these elements, the study explores different ways of increasing the surface areas, thus developing Paris' green infrastructure.
