On the 14 April The Paris City Hall announced the main outlines of the project to win back the River Seine embankment which will gradually be given over to leisure activities, pedestrians and gentle transport from 2012 onwards.
Planned for both embankments the project takes into consideration the specificities of each : to transform the urban motorway on the right bank into an urban boulevard, to close the high speed road to motorised traffic on the left bank on the 2,5 kms stretch of embankment road running from -Solférino-, right of the -Musée d'Orsay- to the -Pont d'Alma- to the right of the Museum of Primitive Arts –Musée des Arts Premiers-.
This reconquered area of 4,5 hectares on the right bank will allow small-scale projects to be developed, which are quick to set up and immediately accessible to inhabitants of the metropolis, around the three themes : nature, sport and culture.
Over the past 10 months the Apur has contributed to reflection on this ambitious project which will be discussed with the partners involved and inhabitants in the months to come.
The City of Paris website presents the project and proposes a forum on which you can put your questions and comments.
