Instigated by the City of Paris, Paris Métropole is a joint local authority confederation bringing together about a hundred local authorities: communes, inter-municipalities, départements and the Île-de-France Region wishing to find common answers to the social, economic and environmental challenges facing their territories.
Paris Métropole, stemming from the Metropolitan Conference, was created at its Constitutive Assembly on 10th June 2009.
Continuing its work carried out for the Metropolitan Conference, the Apur actively participates in Paris Métropole reflections and initiatives which are structured around its four thematic commissions:
- Metropolitan projects
- Housing
- Travel
- Economic and solidarity development
In practical terms the Apur brings in depth clarification to members of the commissions, facilitating the forming of a common culture. It proposes directions for work likely to lead to action taken by Paris Métropole and carries out the specific, thorough research and examination necessary for the commissions' reflection to evolve. The Apur's work consists of producing diagnoses, analyses and methodological notes.
The Apur more specifically has led two commissions (Metropolitan Projects and Travel) and contributes to organising events such as the first Paris Métropole Forum of 17th December 2009 and the Work Seminar of 15th and 16th April 2010 out of which came the call for tender '100 Initiatives for the Metropolis'.
