Tools

The Apur has a complete range of tools for managing, documenting, analysing, exploiting, consulting and mapping geographical databases and has acquired great skill in mastering them.

They are collaborative tools which allow data to be shared both when being created and consulted.

The platform used  by the Apur for managing SIG data is based mainly on software from the ESRI range (ArcGIS®,ArcSDE®,ArcGIS Server). When dealing with purely alphanumeric data they use SGBD ORACLE®.

ETL software (in particular FME® engine) allows easy exchange of data between partners using different GIS software.

Complementary software is used for specific analyses required when carrying out certain studies. For example, the road network analysis is used regularly to gauge transport services to public facilities. Software for processing raster data (in particular ERMapper®) enables analysis and even transformation of data coming from remote sensing bringing a new dimension (e.g. producing the height of vegetation by assembling a digital elevation model and an infrared photograph).

Data is accessible in-house via a recently developed cartographic “web” application based on the modern (Flex®) interfaces which are upgradable and open the future possibility of on-line access to data from the exterior, notably by institutional partners.
