Is it still possible to built on Earth?

may 26th 2011 espace Oscar Niemeyer, Paris, France Printable version

For the last ten years the Emergency Architects Foundation -la Fondation Architectes de l'Urgence- has had to address recurring issues : How to conserve arable land ? How to control unbridled urbanisation to save the surrounding countryside ? Can we avoid building on shorelines and in natural risk zones ? What are the best methods for building safe and decent housing while economising on natural resources ?

The international conference “Tomorrow's Architecture :  Is it still possible to built on Earth?” -«Architecture de demain : la terre est-elle encore constructible ? »-  will bring together specialists in the different fields connected to these crucial questions and will throw an international light on these subjects which concern us all.

Francis Rol-Tanguy, Chairman of the Atelier Parisien d'Urbanisme and Dominique Alba, Chief executive officer of the urbanism and architecture centre the Pavillon de l'Arsenal and  Managing Director of the Apur,  will participate in the second round-table on the theme “Building towns which save the countryside”.
