The aim of this study is to describe conditions in Parisian migrant workers hostels at a moment when a huge rehabilitation plan is being carried out which will affect nearly half of them.
The study also refers to the changes taking place in the population of these hostels which is increasingly aging Over-crowding of premises is still very problematic but is beginning to lessen.
A large number of social, health and cultural interventions have been directed towards the occupants of these hostels.
A survey of these interventions has been carried out in co-operation with the associations involved ,and the residents themselves.
The results demonstrate the importance of the actions taken but also point out areas in need of improvement.
