The road network at the heart of the conurbation, towards a strategic, forward-looking vision

The road network at the heart of the conurbation
This study of the road network at the heart of the conurbation was undertaken by Apur together with the City of Paris, the SGP-Société du Grand Paris-, the DRIEA-Regional and Inter-departmental Department of Amenities and Development-, the Regional Councils of Val-de-Marne, Seine-Saint-Denis, Hauts-de-Seine, the STIF-Public Transport Syndicate-and the Ile-de-France Region. The diagnostic completed in 2013 made it possible to get an overview of the organisation of the road network and the structure of public spaces through a shared vision and common modes of representation at the Greater Paris  - Grand Paris metropolitan level.
This note presents the second and third phases of the study, which form a more strategic and forward-looking framework within which to organise and understand the metropolis:
  • the proposal for a prioritised urban road network;
  • identifying the main issues affecting the redevelopment and completion of public spaces;
  • putting the evolution of the road network into perspective in line with major projects and preliminary discussions regarding links.
This partnership study will be enriched by work in progress in the form of workshops involving a large number of contributors, on themes including urban logistics, feeder services to stations, the boulevards of the metropolis and of the main network.
