Bethlehem - 22nd to 25th June 2015 Mission Report
As part of the decentralised cooperation section of its work programme Apur participated in a mission carried out by the City of Paris in collaboration with Bethlehem and Ramallah in June 2015.
In the city of Bethlehem the mission’s aim was to assist in drawing up a master plan for mobility and public spaces. The challenges involve both improving the road system in order to decongest the city centre and putting in place a credible and competitive public transport service. These issues are linked to the development of tourism (diversification of the forms of mobility on offer, improving public spaces to encourage walking).
In the city of Ramallah, the initial demand was for assistance in improving street and city lighting. Exchanges with the public authorities revealed that there is interest in addressing issues linked to energy in a more global manner.
