The Avenue de Nogent figures in numerous projects of varying scales: the City of Paris Department of Roads and Transport are studying the construction of a bicycle track ; the Committee of the “Vincenne” unit of the urban transport project (PDUIF) is studying development scenarios for the “Château de Vincenne” Bus Station; thought is being given to the old trunk road Route Nationale 34, of which the Avenue de Nogent is a Parisian section.
The projects and planning underway have been instigated and are managed by different bodies and cover different areas but their coherence in relation to the Vincennes Woods requires pre-project awareness of certain shared approaches to the course of action that projects should take.
The Apur proposes a double reading of the avenue based on diagnosis and current studies:
- The Avenue de Nogent as a structuring element in the road system, whose unifying character should be reinforced through greater landscaping coherence and new connections,
- The Avenue de Nogent as an area within the Bois de Vincennes woods, a classified site, a space for nature and leisure activities on a metropolitan scale.
Taking into account the specificity of the woods and basing themselves on the current studies, the propositions aim to find solutions which address the avenue's many different functions and their varying time scales. They also aim to redefine its landscaping and to integrate the road and the urban services into a space for nature and leisure activities.
