Ulaanbaatar, 3rd International Workshop on Franco-Mongolian Architecture and Urbanism from 13th to 26th September 2015 - Mission report - Record of Workshop

Ulaanbaatar, 3rd International Workshop on Franco-Mongolian Architecture
In September 2015 the third international workshop on Franco-Mongolian architecture and urbanism was held in Ulaanbaatar.
This workshop has taken place each year since 2013, supported by a now well established partnership which on the French side involves the Paris La Villette National School of Architecture (ENSAPLV) and the Parisian Urbanism Agency (Apur) and on the Mongolian side, the Ulaanbaatar Council, the Ulaanbaatar Institute of Urbanism (responsible for managing urban development for the Ulaanbaatar municipality -MPACC) and the Department of Architecture at the Mongolian University of Science and Technologies (MUST). A Franco-Mongolian seminar on the development of the city and an exhibition of the work produced during the previous workshops was organised during the same period as the workshop.
The present report brings together:
  • An analysis of the city of Ulaanbaatar’s present day situation and development issues based on field observations, work meetings with Ulaanbaatar municipality and the May forum and workshop debates, which like the seminar in September, enable us to understand certain specific aspects.
  • A summary of the work carried out during the 2015 international workshop.
  • Architecture and urbanism documents drawn up for the seminar.
