February 4, 2026, will mark the first edition of Map Day. This event, organized by the IGN, aims to make the first Wednesday of February an annual event throughout France, similar to the Fête de la Science or the Fête de la Musique, with the goal of promoting maps as a tool for understanding, dialogue, and collective action in the face of the major challenges of the Anthropocene, changing territories, and digital sovereignty.
