There are 110,000 trees planted in Parisian public space (on boulevards, avenues, streets, squares…) which contribute to the urban landscape and provide shade and coolness. Approximately 700 km out of the 1,650 km of public roads in Paris are planted with trees, mostly those of over 19 m wide.

The conditions they grow in have very few characteristics in common with the natural habitat they usually develop in.

The 8 most represented species of adult trees found in Parisian public space are: the plane tree, the horse chestnut, the silver linden or lime tree, the sophora, the Norway maple, the hackberry, the Turkish hazel and the pear tree.
