The Greater Paris – Grand Paris Metropolis – plays a leading role in the cultural field thanks to the 8,000 cultural venues spread throughout the territory, the numerous artists who live and work there, the cultural educational and training facilities located there and the dynamism of its cultural economy (cinema and audiovisual, performing arts, music, visual arts, heritage, architecture, books).
In 2017, 273,000 cultural jobs where based in Grand Paris Metropolis, of which almost half were directly linked to a cultural profession. Grand Paris Metropolis accounts for 88% of the cultural jobs in Ile-de-France and 37% of cultural jobs on a national scale.
The most highly represented domain among cultural jobs in the metropolis is cinema and audiovisual with 65,000 jobs (22% of all cultural jobs in the Metropolis), followed by live perfomance at 38,900 jobs (13% of all cultural jobs in the Metropolis).
