Medellin

Since 2004, in the context of in depth reforms of its governance, the municipality of Medellin, the second largest city in Columbia, has been developing a “social urbanism” policy, linked to major urban renovation and public transport programmes. Faced with having to adapt to these new  issues and wanting to develop a close relationship with France, whose technical expertise they value, the Medellin Municipality conveyed their wish to be technically assisted in order to to consolidate their development model and their adaptation to the challenges of the next twenty years.
Consequently Medellin Municipality, Empressa de Desarrollo Urbano, Area Metropolitana and the Urbam Team made it known in 2010 that they would like to have Apur’s support in the reflection process they were undergoing on their development strategy “Medellin 2030”, which aims for a global and coherent vision of the future on a metropolitan scale.
