With a hundred or so entries drawn from thirty different statistical sources, Data Portraits is organised around four themes: demography, housing, the economy and the living environment.
Information can be consulted on the scales of the metropolis, departments, territories, municipalities and districts. For an improved customisation of the tool, the application provides a dynamic data table enhanced with graphics, enabling users to follow trends over several years. The various geographic scales can be cross-referenced to make comparisons and disclose similar or contrasting trajectories. A customisable radar function makes it possible to select and compare a number of key figures on various scales. There is also a function for printing summary pages of indicators on the scale of different geographic levels.
Each indicator is accompanied by a cartographic representation which covers Grand Paris Metropolis and has three display modes (figures, rates and trends) in order to offer a greater comprehensive awareness of the dynamics within the territory. Four levels of analysis are proposed ranging from the 130 municipalities and 17 Parisian districts, to that of the 12 Territories and Departments which form Grand Paris Metropolis. In addition, there are maps on a finer scale, showing trends within neighbourhoods.
Finally, through the use of infographics, the tool enables certain entries to be cross-referenced, thus highlighting metropolitan issues: demographics and vacant housing, diversity and occupancy status, the size of establishments and the development of self-employment.
