Swimming Spots on the Seine, the Marne, and the Canals, Summer 2026
Five bathing spots in the Marne will open for several weeks. Three beaches in Joinville-le-Pont, Maisons-Alfort and Saint-Maur-des-Fossés have been open since the 20th of June, and two other sites in Champigny-sur-Marne and Neuilly-sur-Marne are opening this weekend.
Since the 4th of July bathing in the Seine has been possible in the stretches of the river at Bras Marie, Bras de Grenelle and at Bercy. In addition, the Canal Saint-Martin welcomed its first bathers on 17th June and has since been open on Sundays.
Finally, two experimental days are being organised at Port de Pantin as well as 2 to 4 days of swimming events off L’Île-Saint-Denis.
Swimming in open,freshwater pools is part of the continued efforts initiated for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games with an ambitious programme to depollute the rivers Seine and Marne. It is the fruit of close collaboration between the Regional Prefecture, Grand Paris Metropolis, the City of Paris and the local municipalities involved.
