There are 1.45 million inhabitants in Grand Paris Express (GPE) neighbourhoods. Apur has published a note on how the population has evolved in these areas over recent years.

All together the inhabitants of GPE station neighbourhoods form 21% of the population of Métropole du Grand Paris. These neighbourhoods are undergoing profound changes and are the sites of numerous urban projects. In some of them the population is rising. The 68 neighbourhoods have experienced, on average, a 3% population increase compared with a 1% increase in Métropole du Grand Paris.

The rise in the population is closely linked to the construction dynamic. This has led to a growth of 10% in neighbourhoods that benefited from intense construction activity between 2008 and 2012. Such is the case, for example, in a number of neighbourhoods on line 15 south : Pont de Sèvres, Fort d’Issy - Vanves – Clamart, Issy RER. These areas have been heavily impacted by major urban projects.

In 2015, each neighbourhood experienced an average increase of 700 more inhabitants than in 2010. In 2010 the 68 GPE station neighbourhoods totalled 1,410,000 inhabitants compared with 1,454,300 in 2015.

The 56 station neighbourhoods located within the Metropolis count for slightly over half of its population growth.

The study is accessible on the Apur site.
