An analysis of home-work mobility

How are cars used for travelling between home and the work place in municipalities (communes) potentially included in the Low Emission Zone (ZFE) put in place by Métropole du Grand Paris and municipalities?

Following the studies in 2018 preparing the way for the Low Emission Zone (ZFE) led by Metropole du Grand Paris and the municipalities involved, Apur continued its work on finding out about the use of cars for travelling between home and the work place.

The aim of the study is to heighten awareness of the modes of transport used by people travelling to and from work on the scale of each commune within the A86 ring road (78 communes and 20 Parisian districts). It is a question of understanding the role of the car in journeys linked to work for each working resident living within the perimeter of the A86 and the communes through which it runs.

For each commune, the study assesses the number of residents that use a car to travel to work, it locates work destinations defining socio-professional categories and compares the time it takes for the same journey to be made using public transport (time spent looking for a parking space is not included).

This cross-referencing contributes to the identification of typologies within the population and territories with the more specific aim of gradually implementing the Metropolitan Low Emission Zone.

A first part forms a cross-referenced portrayal of the mobility of the working population in the ZFE in the 79 communes.
A second part portrays home-work mobility on the scale of each commune and Parisian district involved. It is structured by giving 4 pages to all Communes which are grouped into their Departments.
