25 000 jobs created over five years in the Parisian metropolis
In the Parisian metropolis in 2012, there were 514,000 people working in jobs connected to the creative industries, representing 13% of total employment. The number of jobs in the creative professions has increased by 25,000 over five years and the sector is gaining ground in all areas the of Ile-de-France economy.  These jobs are often held by highly-qualified, male executives. A quarter of them are carried out self-employed people.
In the Parisian metropolis, 90% of the jobs in the sector are divided between the Hauts-de-Seine and Paris, centering around two hubs: the larger of them is Boulogne and Issy-Les -Moulineaux and the second is in the north-west area of Paris, (2nd, 3rd, 10th, 11th and 18th districts).
The emergence of a creative hub in the north-east inner suburbs has also been observed, in an extension of the north-east area of Paris, among which Pantin and Montreuil stand out.
Architecture and the performing arts are very active in the east of the Parisian metropolis whereas book and software publishing and advertising are dominant in the west.
