Bio-diversity in the dense city

New perspectives, new plans of action “From Eaves to Gutter”

In the context of the National Agency of Research’s (ANR) Ecoville programme, companies and researchers from various backgrounds have wanted to understand and test the concept of biodiversity in the dense city. Paris has been studied as the test city, with the intention of transposing and enlarging what is discovered there in other cities. The results have brought about a new approach to greening in the city, to how it is perceived, on what it is constructed and what threatens it.

They also open up new avenues of research and application for developing a different  attitude to green spaces and animal life in the city.

Apur, partner of the Ecoville consortium, has in particular assessed the surface area of greened walls in Paris, where they are, and has estimated the possibility of the future greening of walls.
