Logistics, which are indispensable for the a city to function, is a sector that is evolving rapidly and which is at the heart of current issues: the development of e-commerce, the scarcity of land in dense areas, the reduction of the impact on the environment of goods and merchandise transportation and the modal shift.

The organisation of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games represents an unparalleled logistics challenge which must be integrated into this context and into an active metropolis with a dense population.

In order to accompany the thought process of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Organisation Committee, Apur has listed a series of measures that favour better integrated urban logistics that take into consideration environmental issues, in a collection of good practices. This document gives information on measure and systems that can be reproduced and adapted. It is structures around 6 main lines of action:

  • The organisation of remote logistics
  • Mobile and temporary storage,
  • Modal shift towards inland waterway transport
  • Modal shift towards rail  transport,
  • Bike-logistics and last kilometre logistics,
  • Raising the general public’s awareness of the impact of logistics.
