The 15,200 sales networks registered in Paris occupy 24% of the 62,500 commercial and services premises taking up 40% of the surface area given to sales available in Paris, that is 2,5 million m². While they developed greatly, steadily increasing from 2003 to 2014, the most recent period observed, 2014-2017, shows that the size of their place among Parisian commercial facilities has stabilised.

In order to revitalise themselves, networks are taking on new forms, those previously found in commercial centres on the outskirts of Paris have moved into the centre, setting up shop in new neighbourhoods, multiplying ephemeral shop experiments and opening branches in train stations.
