Creating new gardens, how to green Paris ?

In the last few years the issue of greening has taken on a central place in debates on the city. Meetings organised to deal with the revision of the Paris local urban plan (PLU) as well as propositions put forward notably by district councillors consistently show that access to « nature » is a major preoccupation of inhabitants. The study draws attention to the new rules decided on by Parisian municipalities in the PLU to address this situation, in particular  the introduction of a new biotope ratio. The study also explores other forms of greening which could be complementary and reinforce the presence of nature within the urban fabric.

On this last issue a number of possibilities are examined:  roof and wall greening, redevelopment of land reclamation, opening the gardens of public and private institutions to visitors, reviving the gardens of 1930s housing estates.
