The economic fabric of station neighbourhoods along the Grand Paris Metro Line 15 South - More activity in the services sector to the west and in public services to the east

The economic fabric of station neighbourhoods

140,000 salaried employees work in the 16 station neighbourhoods along the future Grand Paris Express Line 15 south which will link Pont de Sèvres station with Noisy-Champs. Half this number is concentrated in four neighbourhoods (Pont de Sèvres, Issy RER, Châtillon-Montrouge and Créteil-l’Échat).
Six station neighbourhoods have a profile showing a concentration of jobs in the public sector, for example, hospitals or public administration.
Senior executives and professionals in the service sector as well as a significant number of people working in management dominate the economic fabric of the three neighbourhoods situated to the west of the Line.
Manufacturing and support jobs (logistics…) characterise three other neighbourhoods where blue collar workers are more in evidence. Amongst the resident workers of these neighbourhoods, a third have jobs in Paris and of these, three quarters use public transport to get to work. When they work in another commune served by the future Line 15 south, a little under half of them favour public transport as a first choice.
This study undertaken in partnership with the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) forms part of the continuing work of the Observatory of the Grand Paris Express station neighbourhoods and aims to complete the analyses which have already been made of their demographic and social make-up, by focusing on their economic profile.
