The future Grand Paris Express Line 16 will connect Saint-Denis Pleyel to Noisy-Champs, i.e. ten neighbourhoods, most of which are situated in a varied, sparsely-populated urban fabric.
In 2012, 68,600 people were employed in the station neighbourhoods along this line, half of whom were in Saint-Denis Pleyel. This station neighbourhood is the only one on Line 16 to offer a significant number of jobs in the tertiary sector for senior executives and professionals.
The other neighbourhoods are largely residential and in six of them a lot of the jobs are in the public sector, whereas the other three are more economically diversified, with a majority of jobs in manufacturing and support, commercial activities and local services. This contrast between Saint-Denis Pleyel and the other neighbourhoods served by the future Line 16 is increasing under the influence of the dynamic property market in the Saint-Denis area. The arrival of the Grand Paris Express in 2023 – 2024 should act as a lever for economic development for the territories served by Line 16.
