Greater Paris -Métropole du Grand Paris- : 7 million inhabitants

The population of the Métropole du Grand Paris increased at a rate of +0,3% per year between 2010 and 2015.

Results of the 1st January 2015 population census
On 1st January 2015, the population of Métropole du Grand Paris exceeded 7 million inhabitants for the first time ever.
The metropolitan population grew accommodating 117 800 more inhabitants between 2010 and 2015 (+0.3% per year). This gradual rise continues, at a slower rate, the increase observed during the period 1999-2010 (+0.7% per year).
The rate of growth varies in different territories. The T6-Plaine Commune registered the highest rate of increase in the population (+1.2%per year), followed by territories T9-Grand Paris Grand Est (+0.9%) and T12-Grand-Orly Seine Bièvre (+0.8%). This contrasts with Paris whose population dropped by 0.3% during this period.
This note is the first commentary on the results of the population census carried out on 1st January 2015 by the National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies -Insee-.
