This study is part of a global process of sustainable development aiming to improve the quality of the environment in Parisian neighbourhoods. It takes a forward-looking approach exploring concrete ways of improving and increasing green spaces in the city, and more specifically the possibility of greening the roofs. It examines the technical, economic and regulatory conditions necessary for such a project. It delivers an initial quantitative report on the potential feasibility of greening roof terraces of buildings in Paris and gives examples of international experiences and initiatives, one such being the biotope coefficient put in place by the city of Berlin and introduced into the Paris Land-use Plan -PLU-.
