The Île de Cité and its Surrounding Areas Workshop, put in place in April 2022 and chaired by Emmanuel Grégoire, First Deputy Mayor of Paris, forms a body for shared dialogue between the City of Paris and key players : State departments, major cultural establishments, the Centre of National Monuments, the diocese, the Paris university hospital centre AP-HP, The Commercial Court, the Court of Appeal, the Court  of Cassation, the Bar Association, the Police Prefecture, local key players and representatives of civil society by their attendance, architects and prime contractors of the main projects.

This discussion body is accompanied and informed by Apur who also includes this support and animation work in its 2022-2023 Partnership Work Programme.

The workshops follow on from work carried out on the Information and Redefinition of the Seine Mission, conducted in 2020 by elected members of Paris Council and Seine Workshops held throughout 2019, as well as the desire to work towards an overall vision of the various current and future projects led by a multiplicity of players.

The perimeter of the area covered by the workshop includes the two islands : ÎIe de la Cité et Île Saint-Louis and reaches the Pont des Arts and the Louvre to the west and the Arsenal Basin to the east. To the north, it includes a part of the right bank with Place du Châtelet up to rue de Rivoli, and to the south Place Saint Michel and Boulevard Saint Germain.

5 workshops will be held in 2022 and 2023 on the following themes:

  • Workshop 1 (20th April 2022): Presentation of the process and the vision of major key players
  • Workshop 2 (30th June 2022): Transformations underway and to come
  • Workshop 3 (18th october 2022): Public space and uses of the Seine embankments
  • Workshop 4 (26th september 2023): Tourism and everyday life
  • Workshop 5 (date to be programmed): Towards developing shared programme plans 2034-2030
