An interactive map reveals the evolution of Parisian buildings

With this first data visualisation tool of applications for urban planning permission (building permits, prior declarations) it is possible to follow current trends.

Numerous initiatives have been undertaken to make Paris a carbon neutral and sustainable city. Apur, in liaison with the City of Paris Department of Urbanism, created the first data visualisation tool of applications for urban planning and construction permits (building permits -PC- and prior declarations -DP-) which makes it possible to follow trends underway.

In order to respond to the climate objectives of 2050 it is necessary to develop all the different facets of the city, both public and private open spaces, existing and future buildings. The various public policies (climate plan, thermal regulation norms, rain zonage, etc.) guide the evolution of urban fabrics towards these objectives. The impact of policies is difficult to calculate due to a lack of pertinent and reliable indicators. It is therefore important to put in place such indicators to measure the gap between the targeted objectives and those really achieved in order to assess, adapt or put in place other suitable measures.

The dematerialisation of urban planning and building permits registered by the Department of Urbanism provides data which permits current activity on Parisian land plots to be followed. Apur provides an interactive map online which shows this.

This note gives details of methodological aspects and presents the first results.
