Moderate rise in the number of dependant elderly Parisians from now until 2030

Paris 17th February 2012
Paris will see a moderate growth of its population aged 75 or over and a slight decrease in the percentage of those who are dependant.
If recent trends in the mortality rate and migration continue, by 2030 the ageing of the population in Paris will remain lower than in the rest of the Île-de-France.
In Paris the proportion of people aged 75 and over has dropped since the beginning of the 1990s while it has risen in the rest of the Île-de-France, as well as in the provinces.
From now until 2030 there will be a limited rise in the number of dependant Parisians, especially among women, and the number of people continuing to live in their own homes will grow.
From now until 2020, the number of potentially dependant Parisians will rise by 4,600. With a greater life expectancy, disabilities will become more severe.
The rise in the number of jobs necessary to address the care need of the dependant elderly  should  amount to the equivalent of 2,000 full time posts (ETP), an increase of 13%.
