Neighbourhood waste disposal and recycling in Paris: key elements for a master plan

Neighbourhood waste disposal and recycling in Paris: key elements
Waste disposal is a major issue for sustainable cities. There are usually 3 stages in the cycle: 1/ reducing production, 2/ improving collection, and 3/ optimising its recovery value.
The measures taken differ according to the type of waste (household, bulky rubbish, etc). This study looks at the question of neighbourhood waste and bulky rubbish (organic waste being compostable), focusing on the subject of the development of collection infrastructures, existing Business Value Added Contributions (CVAE) for the development of rubbish collection points, and also waste recovery infrastructures (resource/recycling depots) and composting of organic waste.
Over and beyond the strict framework of neighbourhood waste disposal, the development of these facilities could also provide a real awareness-building tool to improve the links in the household waste sorting chain.
