Assessment and prospects for the experimental Night of Solidarity in the Greater Paris - Grand Paris Metropolis - on the night of 20th to 21st January 2022. 487 people were met in nine voluntary municipalities. 2nd Metropolitan "Nuit de la Solidarité" - Night of 26th to 27th January 2023
The Night of Solidarity is an anonymous and objective count of people with no housing solution on a given night. The City of Paris has carried out this counting process since 2018. A first night took place on the night of 20th to 21st January 2022 in the Greater Paris Metropolis. Nine Communes took part in the experiment : Aubervilliers, Bobigny, Bondy, Courbevoie, Gagny, Romainville, Rosny-sous-Bois, Rueil-Malmaison and Saint-Denis.
The count of this first experimental night in the voluntary Communal municipalities amounted to 487 homeless people, 240 of which were in a family camp in Bobigny. The distribution of people with no shelter was unevenly spread from on commune to another. One third of the people counted were met in public spaces and an even greater proportion were found in secluded places (car parks, underground car parks, cars, building lobbies, hospital waiting rooms…).
The results of the questionnaire proposed to the people met and the portraits of homeless people carried out as complementary information reveal diverse profiles. The answers obtained emphasise the overall limited use of the services and facilities available, lower than the average in Paris. The results and hypotheses that emerged will be consolidated in future Nights of Solidarity on a metropolitan scale.
