Cross-analysis of the 9 station neighbourhoods along Line 17

The Observatory of the 9 station neighbourhoods along Line 17 has revealed the diverse nature of the territories which will eventually be served by this line. Line 17, which connects the future hub of Saint-Denis and, more broadly, the centre of the metropolis with Charles de Gaulle Airport, the principal airport in France and main international port of entry to the Grand Paris Metropolis, will play a key role in the metropolitan public transport system.
This line is divided into two distinct sections: from Saint-Denis Pleyel to Le Bourget Airport it crosses a wide variety of territories which are under development, while from the Triangle de Gonesse to Mesnil-Amelot it crosses neighbourhoods where business parks (Exhibition Centre), activities connected to the airport (Charles de Gaulle Airport Terminals 1 and 4) and land which is currently farmed (Triangle de Gonesse and Mesnil-Amelot) leave little room for residential areas. The main characteristic of the station neighbourhoods along Line 17 is the very high number of jobs on offer.
In terms of the dynamics of change in these territories, the southern half served by the line will come to experience an improvement in accessibility to the metropolitan territory. Saint-Denis Pleyel, for example, will become a new public transport hub, with connections to 5 metro lines and the RER D, to which will be added a change in station neighbourhood linked to the Olympic Village envisaged following a successful bid by Paris to host the 2024 Olympic Games. Le Bourget RER will also become an important public transport hub, providing a connection to RER B, Grand Paris Express Network Lines 16 and 17 and the Tangentielle Nord. As for Le Bourget Airport, national and international facilities will increase accessibility in line with its status. Around the northern section of Line 17, the case of Triangle de Gonesse in particular should be noted, where the development project will turn the current state of the area upside down and for which the RGPE service is crucial for its success. As for Mesnil-Amelot, its particular role as terminus and port of entry into the metropolis poses the question of access from the outer suburbs.
