On the 14th April 2010 Bertrand Delanoë announced the Parisian project to redevelop the embankment roads.
The challenge has three facets: to return the embankment to pedestrians, to diversify the utilisation of the river and to organise a range of activities relating to sports, culture and nature by 2012. Parisians have embraced the project enthusiastically, as shown by the numerous comments to be found on the forum on the subject on the -Ville de Paris- site. As from autumn 2010 the project will be presented to the general public for discussion.
After retracing the history of Paris' links to its river, the book defines the principles and general outline of the redevelopment project for the embankment roads,
In the latter part it shows projects already underway from the confluence of the Marne and the Seine to the river banks in the -Bois de Boulogne- , presented by the architects, urbanists and lanscape architects : Bruno Fortier et François Perot, Yves Lion, Jean-Marie Duthilleul, Denis Valode, Architecture Studio, Marc Landowski, Jean Nouvel et Michel Desvigne and 2AD architecture.
