Analysis of the data resulting from the count made during the night of solidarity.

During the Night of Solidarity (February 15-16, 2018), a count of people living rough was made for the first time in Paris and France. The operation was led by the City of Paris in collaboration with a large number of partners and was modelled on and inspired by the method developed in New York and already in use in other cities worldwide.
Information about the profiles of the people encountered, including their needs, was obtained via a questionnaire which also provided a minimum estimate of the number of people on the street with no accommodation options one winter’s night in Paris. This study presents the detailed results of the count after the questionnaires had been processed.
3035 homeless people were counted, of which 12% were women, a quarter in groups and nearly half living rough for a year or more. Two-thirds had never called 115, the emergency services for the homeless.
A factual analysis made it possible to define four main profiles of people living rough and to identify where they were located in the Parisian territory.
