Health and urbanism, with a view to reducing territorial social inequalities and designing the city with a new approach that puts the health of its inhabitants as top priority.
In 2017, the Paris Urbanism Agency (Apur) was assigned by the city of Nanterre to carry out a Healthy Urbanism (UFS) study of a development project: the redevelopment of the paper mills on the banks of Seine -Papeteries de la Seine à Nanterre-.
The site in question is situated in the north of Nanterre, along the banks of the Seine, between the Chemin de l’Ile departmental park and the Hauts-de-Seine detention centre, near the A14/A86 intersection. It is an old industrial site where an economic development project is taking shape, (Tertiary Institute campus, Business Park hosting small and medium businesses and very small businesses (PME/TPE), craft workshops, a logistics area, shops, sports and cultural facilities etc.) all in wooden buildings (speciality of Woodeum).
This study is an innovative and cross-sectoral instrument and will be used to examine this urban project through the prism of health, under five headings: mobility and physical activities, environment, access to employment and training, the project implementation process, and risks and resilience.
