Newcomers poorer than those leaving.
Métropole du Grand Paris has 158 priority neighbourhoods included in the City Urban Cohesion Policy (GPV). Between 2015 and 2016, one inhabitant out of ten in these neighbourhoods moved house. The large number of social housing units in these areas alleviates the mobility of residents even if urban renovation activity contributes to it in practical terms. This moving mode has a proximity logic: 28% of people moving remain in the same neighbourhood. A quarter of them leave their neighbourhood and move to another GPV. Those who remain come more often within the low-income bracket (42%) than people moving out of priority neighbourhoods (26%). A third of the incomers to these neighbourhoods live below the poverty threshold and are often allocated social housing.
