The stock of family housing managed by social housing organisations in Paris
There are 229,446 family housing units managed by social landlords in the territory of Paris. Paris Habitat and the City of Paris Housing Department manage over 60% of housing the stock in the inner city.
Over half the stock of Parisian social family housing (51.5%) is made up of Low-income housing  - HLM/O -, Assisted home loans - PLA -, and Low-rent housing  - HBM -.  Loans for the rented social housing  - PLUS - category and associated (PLUS) categories  total over 65%. The Intermediate Housing loans  - PLI - category and associated ( PLI) categories  make up over 25% of housing managed by Parisian social housing organisations.
There is a majority of two and three room (excluding kitchen and bathroom) -T2 and T3- housing units managed by social landlords concentrated in Paris. Within Paris social housing organisations manage more T2 than T4 housing units, which is not the case elsewhere in Île-de-France.
Nearly a fifth of the Parisian social housing stock is occupied by tenants whose lease has lasted less than 5 years (since 1st January 2012). Leases lasting less than 15 years represent over 57% of rental agreements.
PLS  and PLI housing have a larger average habitable surface area than that of  PLAI  and PLUS housing units. T2 and higher categories of PLS and PLI housing units have a comparable average habitable surface area.
In the categories PLAI, PLUS and PLS the average rent per square metre of habitable surface area goes down as the size of the accommodation increases. The rent per square metre of habitable surface area of PLI accommodation is almost stable for T3 accommodation and higher categories.
Rent decreases as the length of a current lease increases. A lease that has lasted 15 years will show a difference of about 1€/m².
