Tourist coaches and how tourism trends have evolved since 2001

Note n°93 – Tourist coaches and how tourism trends have evolved since 2001
The evolution of tourism flow and attendance and how it is dealt with is measurable with the help of statistical instruments which generally give rather large scale results not descending below the infra-departmental. For a territory such as the metropolis and even more so for Paris, these data are not sufficient for estimating specific phenomena within the area.
Apur has wanted to gather more detailed information, particularly about tourist coaches which transport groups.
This note summarises the results of two sessions of surveys carried out on five sites on the traditional routes visited by tourist coaches.
A lot can be learnt from the the rich material which came out of this operation making is possible to form a clear picture of the major trends which have marked the last decade.
New elements bring to the fore the issue of capacity and the reception conditions provided in the form of coach stations and inevitably lead to the issue of non-polluting transport.  Thought could start being given to organising transfer zones which provide an interface between long distance traffic and the local urban flow.
