Young people in Paris and public space – three tools/methods: an “interactive map”, “areas for exploration”, “thresholds”

Young people in Paris and public space
“What Paris brings to young people - What young people bring to Paris”
Following on from the analyses of public space produced by Apur in 2012 as part of the study “Young people”, a workshop was organised in December 2013 with a group of young people from the 13th district, around the BNF/Grands Moulins site.
The aim was to consolidate the initial analyses, which were based on field observations, and compare them with young people’s perceptions and practices. What they said led to the production of “interactive maps” illustrating the young people’s descriptions of the ways they experienced and used various spaces.
In parallel, two areas of work were documented:
  • “areas for exploration”,
  • ”thresholds”.
The young people put forward some very concrete suggestions concerning the various issues, which could be put into practice experimentally.
