During the night of the 23rd to 24th January 2025, 768 homeless people were counted in the 30 municipalities participating in the Metropolitan Night of Solidarity, a counting operation coordinated by the Grand Paris Metropolis. On the same night, 3,507 homeless people were counted in Paris. Nearly half of the people met in the 30 municipalities were in groups (49 %).
The geographical whereabouts of places where homeless people were found, appear to be relatively stable compared with previous years, with concentrations in the northern and north-eastern municipalities of the metropolis, as well as a specific concentration in the sector of La Défence.
The first part of the study reviews the counting method, its organisation and the actions undertaken during and following the night of the operation. The second part analyses the number and territorial location of the people encountered. The third part presents the results relating to aspects of the profiles of the people met, their backgrounds and their needs.
Although the level of access and the percentage of respondents indicating their use of available services have slightly increased over the past year in the participating municipalities and in Paris, the level remains low. The priority needs remain close to those identified on previous occasions: only one-third of respondents indicated having access to storage space for their belongings (36 %), assistance with their administrative procedures and access to rights (35 %), or a place to discuss and be listened to (34 %).
