The count on the eighth Night of Solidarity recorded 3,507 homeless people encountered on the night of the 23rd to 24th January 2025 in Paris, a higher number of people compared with previous occasions. This result reflects a rise in the number of homeless people since the end of the health crisis.
Most of the people were met in the streets of Paris, but a third of them were found in other types of spaces (train stations, metro and RER stations, car parks, the embankments of the Périphérique ring-road, camps, woods, etc.). For the first time, it was possible to determine how people organised their sleeping areas: more than half had no shelter in Paris (54%), over a quarter slept in tents (27%), 10% in makeshift cabins or a vehicle, 9% in other spaces.
In addition to the analysis of results, the 2025 study includes four focal points: a development targeting young and elderly people who are homeless in Paris based on the results of the past eight years, a presentation of measures put in place linked to the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, an analysis of the Samusocial Observatory based on a survey carried out by those answering the 115 emergency shelter call number the day after the operation and a summary of the results of similar counts in other regions outside Ile-de-France.
This eighth Night of Solidarity was accompanied by the fourth metropolitan operation coordinated by Grand Paris Metropolis in 30 volunteering municipalities. The results of the Metropolitan Night of Solidarity are focused upon in another specific study.
