Set within the Coteau-Marcel-Rosette park, with a large green roof featuring wide openings, the Mairie de Vitry station extends the garden towards Avenue Maximilien Robespierre and the forecourt of the T9 tram line. It also forms part of the development project under the New National Urban Renewal Programme “Cœur de ville”, which covers nearly 10 hectares and is due for completion in 2032.
This popular, family-oriented station district, which is predominantly residential and home to 29,060 inhabitants, comprises 42% social housing, a significant proportion of which is in large housing estates. Due to moderate construction activity, the number of residents and their profile have changed little since 2010. The district also accounts for 7,100 salaried jobs. It benefits from several large public green spaces, including the Parc Départemental des Lilas, to which 6,000 m² of green spaces currently in the planning stage will be added. The presence of greenery is further enhanced by the private gardens within the suburban housing estates, which occupy nearly a third of the neighbourhood’s area, and of course by the architecture of the station.
The analysis of the Vitry-sur-Seine Town Hall station neighbourhood is accompanied by an update of the data visualisation from the Grand Paris Express Station Neighbourhood Observatory, created by the Paris Urban Planning Agency (Apur), the Société des Grands Projets (SGP), the Regional and Interdepartmental Directorate for the Environment, Planning and Transport (DRIEAT) and the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE), as well as the Île-de-France Public Land Agency (EPFIF) and the Paris Region Institute (IPR), which can be viewed here.
