Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

The Apur has set up entire Geographic Information Systems (GIS) which manage links with databases and are made up notably of the following cartographic layers :

In Paris :

  • specific address data reference points
  • plots of urban land
  • details of buildings under the same plot address and their construction dates
  • street blocks and IRIS defined groups of street blocks
  • network of all roads
  • diverse topographical details (alleys, pavements, railways, trees, etc.)
  • public rail transport stations and lines

In Paris and the inner suburbs:

  • land registry of plots of land in the 92 and 93 Departments
  • network of all roads
  • street block boundaries and IRIS  boundaries
  • facilities (premises and addresses)
  • topographical details (paths in cemeteries and green spaces, ...)

In the Region:

  • administrative boundaries of departments, communes, districts and neighbourhoods
  • the Public Institution Inter-Communal Cooperation -EPCI-
  • main roads
  • waterways

These cartographic layers are held at the Land Registry Office, where the Apur has access to them (at a scale of 1:500 in urban areas, 1:2000 in rural areas).

They are used for analyses and detailed mapping, following surveys in the field, of the urban fabric and living environment and have contributed to studies published under the title Paris et ses quartiers in 2001 and 2008.

They are also used when making the great many maps necessary for drawing up urbanism documents under the Urban Solidarity and Renewal Act (SRU); Local Urban Land Use Plan (PLU), the Development and Sustainability plan (PADD), the Urban Mobility Plan (PDU), the Local Housing Plan (PLH) etc.
