Colloquium – Middle classes in contemporary cities

While the middle classes are the subject of numerous scientific debates which deal with  their definition, their ways of life, their political standing and their transformations, this colloquium proposes to extend these debates by concentrating more specifically on analysing the middle classes relationship to territory and their place in the city.
Audry Jean-Marie, director of studies at Apur, will speak on Thursday 21 November at a round table hosted by Marie-Hélène Bacqué and devoted to the middle classes and those active in the city.
Pierre Mansat, Deputy Mayor of Paris in charge of Paris Métropole and relations with  public authorities within Île-de-France and Gérard Perreau Bezouillz, First Deputy Mayor of Nanterre, will also take part in the round table.
This international conference is organised by the laboratory Mosaïques/UMP LAVUE within the framework of the ANR/ESRC middle classes in the City (MICCY) and “Paris 2030 : Will they come back ? An inquiry into the return of the middle classes to a central position”.
