The fight against substandard housing in Paris - Review of actions carried out from 2002 to 2018

The Apur will present on Thursday, June 3, 20 years of treatment of undignified housing in Paris, with the results of the actions carried out from 2002 to 2018.

As early as 2002, the City of Paris and the State jointly displayed the ambition to eradicate unworthy housing in Paris, by devoting very significant resources to it and by implementing new treatment tools. This plan, which marks a turning point in the way of dealing with insalubrity, in particular by setting up a work "in lace", is also of an unprecedented scale. In nearly 20 years, 200 unhealthy or degraded Parisian buildings, ie 56,000 housing units, have been treated.

These results were obtained thanks to the mobilization of several devices: the 450 most degraded buildings were the subject of a public acquisition and were demolished and rebuilt leaving room for more than 5,300 social housing units. The 1,700 other buildings, less degraded, remained private and were supported and subsidized in carrying out 238 million euros of work.

This presentation will also be an opportunity to review the results of the approach to preventing the deterioration of old buildings in Paris for the year 2020.
