2011 Activity report

This document describes the work program carried out by the Parisian Urbanism Agency in 2011.

The studies are divided into four main reference sections:
  • Databases
  • Thematic studies
  • Evolution of territories
  • Metropolitan dynamics

And completed by two others:

  • Communication, documentary resources centre, publications
  • International activity
The studies are organised in two main categories: one is thematic, dealing with planned work and research which is developed over a number of years, the other dealing with more short term studies linked either to territories or  socio-economic matters.
Among the thematic subjects one can note the growing importance of subjects linked to the sustainability of the city (nature, thermography, water resources), the rising number of subjects connected to people suffering hardship  and those linked to the economic activity approached both from the point of view of solidarity and Paris’ potential economic strength.
2011 was a year which confirmed the widening of the perimeter of the agency’s action with a much larger Paris – Petite-Couronne (inner suburbs) database, studies of  territories at the heart of the conurbation and an increase in the number of works carried out for Paris Metropole.
The year 2011 was also the year when Apur carried out studies to accompany development projects for the Seine embankments and organized the 32nd Meeting of the National Federation of Urbanism Agencies which brought together 1,200 participants. This meeting was innovative in that agencies were asked to present the various aspects of their work and to reflect on their evolution. A proposition which seems to have marked an important, first step.  It is, in effect, fundamental that the tools used by local authorities, which were created 40 years ago, should be able to address new expectations, that they keep abreast of the new aspects and scope of governance, the distribution of data and all matters concerning the ambitions for a sustainable city.
