This study attempts to identify those Parisian buildings which are particularly at risk of deterioration in the years to come. In terms of methods, about ten statistical indicators have been identified, and where they combine a list of 700 buildings showing disturbing signs has emerged - of these about 200 seem to present an increased risk in light of the number of problems they show.
The principle indicators which have been decided on to help identify risks of deterioration are the percentage of small rented apartments, health and safety orders, unpaid water bills and the presence of low-income occupants (the proportion of those applying to be re-housed, benefiting from FSL aid). This exercise paves the way for preventive measures to be put into place to protect these buildings from entering into a spiral of decay.
